Self-hosted homelab
Proxmox Docker Kubernetes ZFS Nginx TLS VPN
What I run
A Proxmox-based home infrastructure hosting 20+ Docker/Kubernetes workloads and 10TB+ of data across services I actually depend on.
What I learned to operate
- Self-hosted apps like Nextcloud, Jellyfin, Immich, and Vault — with real storage planning, not toy volumes.
- ZFS snapshots and automated backups so “RAID is not a backup” becomes operational habit, not a sticker slogan.
- DNS, TLS, VPNs, and reverse proxies arranged for resilience and sane remote access — closer to how small teams ship than how tutorials default.
Why it matters
This is where I stress-test ideas that later show up in “real” projects: networking, storage, observability, and failure modes you only see after weeks of uptime.
